I had envisioned about him a few times, his face was plainly developing in my psyche, I will always remember his pair of wild eyes and that underhanded mouth. However, the truth of the matter isn't what we think. In Chinese school, each educator has an aide in each class, those colleagues assist instructor with getting papers and books, or take schoolwork from us and alter at that point. My companion Yu was Mr. Yang’s collaborator. Yu was a charming young lady, she have decent voice and smooth long hair. Be that as it may, I recognized a weird thing; each time she back to study hall from Mr. Yang’s office, her feeling had been changed, now and then happy, now and then disappointed. â€Å"Mr. Yang must planned something for her,† I thought, at any rate it’s not my business. After five years, when all my center school’s companions and I went to my birthday celebration, I started to solicit our center school career’s secrets from the obscure. At whatever point I bethink of this occasion, I can’t stop to think and picture Mr. Yang’s lousy eyes. I recollect once my colleague Henry and I got a battle in second floor of our school’s inn. This occasion turns into a legend in my center school. The wellspring of the story is, one day evening, my companion Bob and I were playing soccer in our own room. Following brief Bob has incidentally kicked our flat mate Henry’s pot. We took a gander at each other’s face and loosened around ten seconds, and afterward he quickly stated, â€Å"Hide it! In the wake of night class, Henry strolled to me and got some information about his messed up pot. I claim to get my work done and said â€Å"Don’t know. At that point I were peeping him once when he left. Second night class was Mr. Yang’s Chinese class, After this period, each understudy started to stroll back to school’s inn; I followed individuals until to second floor of the inn, a delicate and cold voice went to my correct ear, even I can felt that breath, â€Å"I know is you, deceiver. † â€Å"What did you just said?! † I hollered. The aftereffect of this battle was grievous, Henry’s nose bone been down and out by me, and my correct calf been cut and the injury is around three inches. That’s why this occasion turns into a legend in my center school. We two have been taken to clinic at that point, after two hours we two back to our room. The Death Motif In Shakespeares Romeo And Juliet Essays

The Death Motif In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet The Death Motif in Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet As a rule, creators utilize the topic of death all through their works. This is by all accounts valid for William Shakespeare in Romeo and Juliet. All through his play, Shakespeare utilizes demise to move his story along. He does this with genuine passings, which mess up the darlings, and through hunches and dreams of death. Both Juliet and her Romeo display these feelings/dreams. The utilization of death is promptly found in the introduction of the play: The frightful section of their passing checked love (Shakespeare Pro. 9). The Prologue offers us the inescapable destiny of the two darlings short and sudden. During the principal demonstration of the play, we learn of the Capulets ball, and of how the sweethearts met. After the ball is finished, Juliet says, If he be, wedded, my grave resembles to be my wedding bed, (I, v, ll.143-44) which is a premonition of the last scene of the play. This halfway prompts Romeo and Tybalts duel in III, I, as Romeos nearness at the ball estranges Tybalt. In II, iv, Benvolio and Mercutio uncover that Tybalt has sent Romeo a test to a duel. Not long before the appearance of Juliet, the Friar cautions Romeo against fulfilling their new marriage too rapidly. Romeo concurs, however provokes demise to demolish the occasion, ...at that point love-eating up death do what he challenge (I, vi, ll.7.). Presently if just the marriage was made open, these premonitions might not have happened particularly the duel with Tybalt. In III, I, Tybalt greets Benvolio and Mercutio looking for Romeo. Presently, Romeo wouldn't like to duel with Tybalt as he is currently furtively his brother, yet this doesn't stop Mercutio for getting in the blend in with Tybalt. Romeo gets between the two men, and as Tybalt endeavors to run Romeo through, the blade goes under Romeos arm and mortally wounds Mercutio. Before he is removed, Mercutio says to Romeo, Why the demon came you between usA plague o both your homes! They have made worms meat of me. I have it, and sufficiently as well. A plague! (ll.102-103, 10106-108). Here, we see Mercutio reviling the two houses, and, generally, premonition what might be on the horizon. Mercutio is taken to a close to house to be dealt with, and minutes after the fact, Romeo is educated regarding Mercutios passing. Romeo, presently chafed, duels with Tybalt and kills him. The Prince shows up upon the scene, and after a record of the happenings, exiles Romeo to endless supply of death. This e xpulsion of Romeos unavoidably prompts significantly more noteworthy issues later in the play. In III, ii, Juliet prophesizes awful things to come when she says, Give me my Romeo; and, when he will pass on, take him and cut him out in little stars, and he will make the substance of paradise so fine (ll.21-23). The Nurse enters and advises Juliet that Tybalt has been killed by Romeo. Juliet takes a gander at the circumstance as the demise of both the men, as Romeos expulsion resembles a passing. III, iii is moved to the Friars cell, where Romeo is displaying his self indulgence to the Friar. At the finish of the scene, in a response of metal judgment, Romeo requests the Friar mention to him what part of the body his name is, so he may remove it with a blade he has drawn. This appears to infer Romeos want to be dead, instead of be without Juliet. At first, toward the start of this scene, Capulet will have no discussion of marriage, because of the ongoing demise in the family. Notwithstanding, so as to help Juliet through her melancholy over Tybalts demise, Capulet chooses to wed her off to Paris (III, iv). Obviously this is an issue as she is furtively hitched to Romeo as of now. In III, v, Lady Capulet states, Ill send one in Mantua, where that equivalent exiled runagate doth live, that he will before long stay with Tybalt (ll94-96). This announcement prophesizes Romeos demise later in the last scene of the play. At that point, Lady Capulet wants her little girl to be hitched to her grave (ll. 145), which is amusing, as Juliet will take a mixture making her

Combating Childhood Obesity Boys & Girls Clubs of America - 1925 Words

Combating Childhood Obesity: Boys & Girls Clubs of America (Essay Sample) Content: Combating Childhood Obesity: Boys and Girls Clubs of AmericaName of Student:Institution of Affiliation:Date:AbstractThis term paper aims at examining the child obesity social problem that is currently affecting the United States as a nation. The paper majorly tackles why taking prompt action is required, the target groups for this intervention (like Boys and Girls Clubs of America), barriers and challenges affecting the achievement of the dream to combat childhood obesity, what the research experts and scientists are saying concerning this social issue and lastly, the possible interventions in combatting diabetes in children.Recent research work released by Centre for Disease Control (2015) in the United States indicate that about 18% of all the children in America are obese and that the number has been tripling since 1980. The same results showed that the major causes of such a high percentage of children suffering from obesity could have been triggered by the childr en drinking and eating so many sugary drinks and food and having fewer physical activities in school among other minor possible causes. The greatest news, however, is that, currently, different organizations have decided to act on the issue in order to rescue the children from this boring and shameful condition. Currently, there is a lot of activities coming from the states and the federal government, communities based groups, schools and parents that aim at combating the societal problem of childhood obesity. This step of action is very important as the extensiveness of the issue of obesity in children and its potential to affect the normal life the children, their teachers, community and family members cannot be ignored. The solution to this societal issue seems to be a simple one, that is, take a few calories and do regular exercise, two reasons which are always difficult to implement because exercising and diet requires close monitoring so that the behaviour is maintained. Such support, can easily occur in a society that promotes the practice of exercise and healthy eating. This, would therefore, mean that it is not only these affected people that need to change in order to cub this disease, but the society at large needs to change the kind of environment that it offers to those living around and within it and involving families in this campaign of early childhood obesity. Currently, organizations like Boys and Girls Clubs of America and YMCA are already dedicated and committed to ensuring a complete eradication of obesity in children by adopting specific adoption standards by the RTI team (CDC, 2015).Why is this issue so important yet these are just children? Why not just deal with adult obesity and let the children enjoy their lives by eating anyhow and not getting engaged in regular exercise? Children form a very important group of any society beginning from the household level. Children play a major role in deciding the kind of world to expect in the n ext generations. They are the ones expected to rule the world in the coming years. This would mean that failure to consider them probably means not taking care of our future world. Other than just being alive and well educated, the children needs to be in great health in order to function best in the society. Starting a habit earlier in the early ages of a child makes it a routine after they have grown up into adults. Introducing programmes that can help teach the children about healthy living and effects of eating junk food and not doing regular exercise means securing their future. What you teach them while they are young is what they are going to stay with even after they are grown adults. This would mean a major achievement in the general eradication of the issue of obesity, be it in children or in adults. Children are also a major source of happiness in any family. Ask any young man or woman why they want to get married, they always say that it is because they want to have wond erful children among other reasons. Losing a loved one, especially a child always indicate how important children are in the current world. As is that is not enough, sick children require more medical attention than adults because their immune system is still weak. As an English Proverb would always say, prevention is better than cure, it is important that the current children are protected from acquiring obesity than trying to put them on drugs after they have acquired it. Children need to always be in good health. That is when they can fully dedicate their energy and time towards making the coming years a better world. A sick child can barely perform any constructive activity in the society thus the importance of the target group. If obesity can be combatted among our children, America and the whole world would be sure of a better tomorrow.Despite the intervention efforts being currently put in place by the organizations such as Boys and Girls Clubs of America, there are major cha llenges that slows down this process. Among such challenges are financial challenge and stigmatization of obese children, cheap first food getting sold within the communities that are majorly affected, available soft drinks for consumption and difficult in exercising among other challenges. Almost nothing in this world can be done without money. Arvantes (2010) Finance is very important in combatting childhood obesity. Organizations like Boys and Girls Clubs of America require adequate funding in order to conduct their campaign to every corner of the United States. The intervention programmes require monitoring and sustainability of progress in combatting child obesity. Most of such non-profit organizations are rarely started by the rich individuals like Bill Gates, who can source funds to the programs thus most of them always end up getting frustrated and shutting own. The cost of educating teachers on the program and that of the facilities that are required in the program, organiz ing different related events within the program is very high. This is why the US government has decided to source Boys and Girls Clubs of America with high funding in order to assist them run their programs with little difficulty. Another challenge in combatting obesity in children is the kind of stigmatization that the affected children face at school or anywhere else. This is so serious that most of the affected children end up dropping out of schools and staying behind the lights thus making it difficult to get an assist them. This, in addition, may lead to fear of food among the affected children (Arvantes, 2010).The availability of fast food in every corner of America at a cheaper price than organic food possess a greater challenge in doing away with childhood obesity. The United States is currently estimating over 250,000 restaurants dealing with fast food. This, if not taken care of, would lead to a greater challenge in combatting childhood obesity. According to Hurt, Kulisek , Buchanan, McClave (2011), a study was done where 3031 adults were closely monitored for 15 years in order to evaluate their fast food habits, challenges in body weight and the development of insulin resistance. This study found a very strong positive correlation between the frequent visits to the weight gained by these individuals. Other similar studies has had the same findings. Another study by the Expert Committee of the American Medical Association indicated that most of the frequent consumers of fast food do not consume it in their homes. They have to buy it from a fast food restaurant. Of importance to the children, most brands of toys always offer, in addition, some of these high calorie and sweet meals to the children as a way of promoting their brands. This makes it more difficult to combat obesity in children. Fast food advertisement targeting children has made matters worse in the war on obesity. Being a child is always believing what everyone says. Children are gullib le. When they see a product, or a fast food being advertised on their cartoon program, they will start craving for it. The innocent parents, being overly loving to their children would always buy the children literally everything that they want so long as enough money is available. There is need for a multidisciplinary research aimed at developing an efficient and effective childhood obesity solution. Childhood obesity requires action in order to combat it, and action only comes after evidence has been presented. This evidence must, therefore, be obtained by thorough research. A research presented by the National Collaborative on Childhood Obesity Research (NCCOR) indicates that one out of three children in America become either overweight or obese before their fifth birthday. The report further states that approximately 12.5 million children, representing 17% of children and adolescents between the ages of two to nineteen, in America, are obese (CDC, 2015). As explained, these rates are higher in the environments with economically disadvantaged families. The research notes some of the factors that dictates whether one can be obese or not as; epigenetics, early life influences, genes and intrauterine environment among other factors. To them, in order to prevent obesity in children, it is necessary that the changes are enforced in each level including the government policies, communities, health care providers, schools, families and individuals (CDC, 2015).Another study involved data from Upstate KIDS Study, aimed at examining the effects of parental obesity. The research that enrolled more than 5000 four months after giving birth within the New York State but excluded the New York City, between 2008 and 2010. The children in the study were tested at the age of four months, which then followed six more retests until they reached the age of three. From the research, comparing the health of children with normal par...

Market governmnet and orgainzations (Keystone ) - 4125 Words

Market governmnet and orgainzations (Keystone ) (Article Sample) Content: Student’s Name Professor Course Date Introduction Keystone Pipeline Project is one of the leading collaborative efforts between Canada and US wherein both the countries are involved in the establishment of an oil pipeline between the two countries. It is meant for transporting crude oil and other oil related products to the refineries in US. Once completed, this pipeline will be more than 2000 miles long and will be covering the areas such as Alberta and different State of US. What is important to note that it is a phased project and interconnected with other projects also making it a keystone pipeline project supporting other smaller projects also. Three phases of the project are already complete with fourth phase is in construction stage. Considering the overall length of the pipeline and its design, there have been different issues, which have been highlighted. One of the key criticisms and serious issues to be dealt with is the environmen tal impact of this pipeline on various areas. Apart from this, there are also economic and political issues involved in the construction of this pipeline project. This project however, will focus upon identifying and exploring economic issue of whether this project will actually result into stimulation for the economy besides creating jobs for both the countries. There has been a criticism on whether the project has been actually able to generate the same level of economic stimulus and job creation in both the economies or not. It was considered as an important project to provide $7 Billion stimulus besides creating approximately 200,000 jobs in the country. However, there have been conflicting estimations regarding the consequence of the project on economy. Greenpeace, one of the leading campaigning organizations also appealed to the SEC to scrutinize the claim of project creating 200,000 jobs during its entire construction period. President Obama was also quoted as being saying t hat the overall jobs created by the project will be around 2000. There have also been issues regarding the capacity utilization of the pipelines as it has been suggested that pipeline may create serious capacity issues considering the overall construction cost involved in the production of this pipeline. It has also been suggested that this pipeline may not yield benefits to the local oil supply as it has been constructed to actually export the Canadian oil to China. This argument therefore suggests that such heavy expenditure on the construction of the pipeline may not result into same level of economic benefits being transferred to the local economy specially the States which are offering tax exemptions to this project (Flynn, 2012). Introduction Definition of Problem The problem here in is a case with the Keystone pipeline project, which was mainly constructed to create economic stimulus of more than $ 7 million, and more than 200, 000 jobs to the youths. The project upon compl etion has elicited a series of conflicting opinions from many people across the two regions. Most of these raise questions on both the credibility and viability of the project. Contrary to the Canadians and the US expectations, the company is totally on the other side likely to cause more loss than the benefits anticipated. There are also allegations that the pipeline would actually not export oil to the US, but to China, one of the issues that greatly raise the credibility as well as the viability of the report throughout the implementation season. Stating historical facts The keystone pipeline project was collaboratively rolled out to export crude oil to refineries in the US. This project was aimed at boosting economic stimulus of the country by $7 billion, and was equally meant to create over 200,000 jobs for citizens of both countries. The project was also tailored to provide support for other projects in the region hence making them survive. The cost of setting up the project significantly provided conviction that it would be viable and of great benefit to the two countries. The progress of the project has however not indicated any sign of the anticipated benefits. Contradictions have surrounded the project with many raising alarm over its viability and the ability to fulfill its intended mandate satisfactorily. The project leaves more questions than answers as the truth regarding its progress finally uncovers. The billion-dollar project cost the two countries a great deal, and letting things it die, would result into such a big loss to both the countries. The idea of the Keystone pipeline transporting oil to china is also alarming since that was not part of the original plan. Progress on the project The project is currently complete up to the third phase, and the fourth phase is under way. The fourth phase is however facing a number of controversies over its routing which passes through to Nebraska. Most of these are related to the environmental hazar ds attached to this project. Relatively, part of the pipeline route that should go through the sea brings further controversies over the fourth stage of construction. Overall purpose of this paper In lieu of the above allegations and conflicts over the Keystone pipeline project, this research is aimed at making in depth research into the conflicts and problems surrounding the project, and then coming up with possible recommendations to help find an ultimate solution. The research will take into consideration, the environmental, political and the economical impacts of the project vis a vis the current progress. In addition, the research will take historical perspective of this project into account while attempting to analyze the salient issues revolving around its viability and project life. Literature Review Historical perspective of the issue The Trans Canada Corporation proposed the project on 9th February 2005. However, the communications, energy, and paper workers Union of Ca nada in 2007 requested the Canadian government to block any regulatory approvals for the project; terming it as a trick to benefit the US citizens with permanent jobs. The commission further indicated that the project was meant to reduce Canada’s energy security as well as jeopardize job creation and investments in the Canadian energy sector. Despite this, the Canadian national energy board went ahead and approved the construction of the Canadian section of the pipeline. The US government, through the Department of state also played their part by issuing a presidential permit, which authorized construction, the maintenance and operation of the pipeline at the United States – Canada border. In 2008, the ConocoPhillips purchased 50% of the project stake. The TransCanada however agreed that they would buy the shares held by the ConocoPhillips and become the sole owner of the project. The process of acquiring all the necessary legal documents pertaining to the transfer of shares took over two years. The construction also took another two years hence the pipeline from Alberta to Patoka, United States started operating in 2010. The keystone project began as a collaborative project that was to strengthen the economic status of the US and Canada. The pipeline was meant to transport crude oil from Canada to the US refineries. The project was seen as capable of boosting trade within the two regions and was to create many job opportunities between the two countries. The governments of both the two countries were optimistic about the project benefits and they fully pledge their support for the same. Concerns have however been raised over the projects feasibility in terms of environmental sustenance amidst other conflicting ideas. Further research digging dipper into the project reveals causes of conflict over the project’s key intention and whether it was sufficiently planned for before the release of the funds. Related issues highlighted in literat ure The literature reveals a number of issues surrounding the project at hand. Most of these have been raised by the two countries owing to the levels of risks attached to the project development. The most common conflicts involve the environmental issues, the conflicts of interests, geopolitical issues, conflicts of interest, political issues, indigenous issues, safety issues, economic issues, and issues relating to public opinion among others. Environmental factors Despite the various conflicts in opinions regarding who was meant to benefit from the keystone pipeline project, there are various environmental concerns that were equally attached to the same. A number of environmental activists, citizens, and politicians have express concerns over the negative environmental impacts likely to be brought about by the Keystone project. One of the biggest environmental issue lies on the risk of oil spillage along the pipe; experts fear that this could easily lead to sensitive terrain and would further increase the greenhouse gas emissions by nearly 17 percent during the extraction of the oil sands. According to Samuel Avery, a social activist, mining on the Alberta tar sands would increase carbon dioxide in the air by 50 to 60 parts hence raising the total levels to at least 450ppm. This is the least threshold for critical climate feedback and it is the point where global warming begins to take effect. Another environment concern is that oil spillage on the pipeline would cause air and water pollution hence interfering with water supplies as well as causing harm to birds and water creatures. The pipeline’s original route plan went through the sand hills, the Nebraska wetland ecosystem and then to the Ogallala Aquifer which is among the world’s largest fresh water reserves. The Ogallala aquifer covers eight states in the US, and the same time providing nearly two million US citizens with drinking water. The Aquifer is also said to be supporting agric ultural projects worth $20 billion. After the opposition from activists, th...

Nike is classified under the Footwear manufacturing and marketing†¦show more content†¦Barriers to Entry: The athletic footwear industry is a very competitive and mature market. The leaders of this industry are very well established. Leaders like Nike, Reebok, and Adidas have made the industry what it is today. In order to have an edge over the leaders, companies must be able to compete at all levels such as reasonable pricing, efficient production, and high product quality. These things are difficult to achieve without the resources of an established manufacturer. Another key barrier to entry is the access of traditional distribution channels. Lesser-known brands are viewed by retailers as b eing too risky to replace an established brand name like Nike or Reebok on the shelf. Thus, high startup costs, lack of distribution channels, brand equity and cutthroat environment hinder the entry of new competitors. Non Price Competition: In a monopolistically competitive market like that of footwear industry, there is just a slight difference between the products manufactured by various companies such as Nike, Reebok, Adidas, Puma etc., and hence the companies rely heavily on non price competition. They mainly use advertising to flaunt their products and try to get consumers to buy their product over another. The goal of product differentiation and advertising (non price competition) is to make price less of a factor in consumer purchases and make product differences a greater factor. There is a lot of non price competition

English Horror Story - Original Writing Essay - 1927 Words

English Horror Story - Original Writing I was driving for about three hours when I realised I had taken the wrong turning and was hopelessly lost. I pulled over to the side and found my mobile phone in order to phone for help. However, the old man did not look like a regular butler as he was quite plump and seemed to waddle instead of walk. He gestured for me to come in and to follow him. He waddled into the living room where a younger man sat, smoking a pipe. The younger man looked up at me, and startled me by his left glass eye, which seemed to be constantly staring at me. Ah, hello my friend. What brings you here on this night of the full moon? The young man asked with the glass eye still staring intently. Oh, and please do keep your voice down. My son is already asleep upstairs. Im sorry to disturb you at this time of night, but I am lost and my car has broken down. Human Resource Management in Switzerland

Question: Discuss about the Human Resource Management in Switzerland. Answer: Introduction A report on human capital by World Economic Forum in 2106, ranked Switzerland in the third position globally. This report was founded on the ability of a country to harness the skills and knowledge of its population for economic growth. Several factors contribute to utilization of human capital; education, employment, political and economic environment. The analysis provided by the report scrutinizes education in across the globe and discusses the relevance of the knowledge acquired to the various sectors within a country. Switzerland retained its third position from the previous year due to its ability to utilize its population in growing her economy (Martin Whiting, 2016). Previously, it had been ranked for its productive workforce which is a result of academic structures that the government has invested heavily. Human resource management in Switzerland is centralized; the federal office of personnel is tasked with the setting human resource policies. It is responsible for defining and coordinating human resource policies, managing the pay system, training workers and levering their absorption into the workforce and also fosters diversity within the workforce. Its workforce has one of the highest numbers of employees working in full-time jobs within the public sector. The government has laws in place that govern the employment of its citizens. Switzerlands human resource practice is primarily centralized and has position-based recruitment practice. Recruitment is done through direct applications to the ministry where applicants that achieve the merit required are shortlisted for interviews. Workers pay is managed by a system which is determined by a collective bargaining structure. Employee assessment is done annually through written reports by supervisors. Supervisors are expected to give details of activities carried out, quality of employee output, employee skills exhibited and relevance of the work. Employees can go up in their ranks as their performance and experience increase. Comparison of Switzerland, Malaysia and Nigeria HRM Case Presentations In Switzerland, age and gender influence the employment practice. These demographics are components of the workforce dynamics which are a contributing factor to the economy. The largest percentage of the employee comprises of middle age individuals of 40-49 years of age with 30% share in the workforce. Women are given more consideration in the employment of individuals to the public sector. Although women are given more consideration during employment, their numbers are still low in the public sector. They occupy 26.4% of the total workforce in the public sector while 11% of them hold top management positions. In Malaysia, human resource management is centralized, and all the functions are governed by the Ministry Of Human Resources. It is responsible for the development of skills, employment, regulation of the pay system, and the formulation of policies that govern markets and employee relations. The Malaysian public sector is centric to the improvement of performance of its citizens. It aims at projecting a structured system that determines human resource utilization. It provides guidelines on the recruitment of citizens into the workforce and their progression throughout their careers. The country has three ethnic groups: Malay, Chinese and the Indians. The largest percentage of the workforce is held by the Malay who has a population of 54.6% of the total population of the country. Ethnic imbalance in Malaysian public sector has been criticized for lack of equal representation of its citizens. Nigeria is one of the most populous countries in the world with over 1980 million people. Currently, the country is facing economic recession due the global fall in oil prices. Nigeria has been an economic powerhouse in the sub-Saharan Africa for decades, and the human resource index has played a key role in it (Van der Westhuizen, 2009). Its population comprises of the highest number of skilled middle-aged citizens that could be assimilated into the workforce. The country has invested a lot in education and health to ensure that the country has a productive workforce. Nigeria lacks a centralized human resource management body, and the employment function is delegated to the different ministries within the government. The government has adopted some of the International Labor Organization conventions for the management of human resource. HRM Procedure Many countries have developed guidelines used in the recruitment and deployment of their workforce. This facilitates the efficiency of work adaptation by employees and increases their productivity (Gold, 2013). Policies that govern how these activities are conducted are crucial in managing conflicts that may arise. Procedures provide guidelines on the employee welfare that includes their benefits, health, and wellbeing (Knill, Balint, 2008). The three countries have similarities and differences in their procedure development and applications The Switzerland government classifies employees into different ranks according to their qualifications. The central government delegates some of the responsibilities of the ministries or units within the government including the recruitment, contract terms, career progression and dismissal from work. The quality of work output is tracked by the central organ which determines the worthiness of the employee. The conditions that workers are exposed to are managed by a federal body and the respective ministries. Other responsibilities that are shared between the government and the ministries include the formulation of work ethics and the provision of equal employment opportunities for the citizens. The Malaysian government has a central human resource management function as in Switzerland. The citizens are given opportunities to work in different sectors in the government. The recruitment of workers is done through a central placement of workforce. Although the Malay community has dominated the public service over the past decades, there is an increasing number of applications from all its ethnic groups in the country. The government has invested in supplying its sectors with the quality workforce to aid in innovation. Contributing factors to the success of any institutions consist of a quality human resource, structure, appropriate strategies and a clear support system within the government. Recruitment practice in Malaysian government is focused on diversifying its workforce to ensure that quality output is realized. In the Nigerian government, the HRM procedures is a responsibility given to the different ministries within the government. This practice allows the ministries to develop their guidelines and strategies in employing their workers. The Federal civil service of Nigeria is a regulatory body that oversees the recruitment and placement of the workers. It is tasked formulating policies that govern how ministries recruit their employees and analyses the work output of these employees. It gives guidelines for determining the type of skills required for a particular post. HRM Issues/Implications Countries strive to utilize the labor provided by the population for economic growth. Population increase is a positive and a negative factor to any economy. Gold, J. (2013) argues that the ability of a country to absorb its population into its workforce is crucial and if the population is overwhelming then it may strain its other resources and slow the economic growth. Consumption rises while production goes down affecting the dynamics of the economy. The population of the three countries in comparison differs; Nigeria leads the pack with over 180 million inhabitants. The population is a factor that needs to be regulated to avoid straining the economy. Training and education given to employees form part of a pivotal role in the economic growth a country. Education gives a chance to citizens to improve their lives through employment opportunities provided by the government. Investing in education is important to a country as the workforce is supplied continually with staff that is knowledgeable. Training should regularly be given to the employees to keep them updated with the new trends such as technology. HRM Discussion Human resource management is crucial to any institution. A structured system of recruiting employee is important as employees can work in areas of their specialization. Potential employees are given a chance to apply for posts that they feel more qualified to serve. The three countries have made policies to regulate how the public sector works for improvement and stabilization of their economies (Nankervis, Rowley, Salleh, 2016). Employees betterment is important as they can fully contribute to the economy when their working conditions remain favorable. Recommendations and Conclusion A central placement human resource is manageable and transparent. It gives all the citizens an opportunity to work in areas they qualified to work. Employee needs should be given attention as they constitute the breath line to the success of an economy. Any conflict that may lead to strikes or go-slows should be avoided, and these problems should be mitigated. From an economic development perspective, countries should focus on educating the population, creating job opportunities and giving them a recommendable pay for their work. These factors would build a satisfied workforce whose output is of high quality. References Gold, J., (2013). Human resource development: Theory and practice. London publishers. Essay about Child Development Toddlers Observation Essay Example For Students

Essay about Child Development: Toddlers Observation Essay This observation was mostly conducted behind a one way glass. I watched the children but they did not know I was there. The ages of the children served in that program were in the range of 18-36 months. Curriculum used in that program is considered Creative. Qualifications for staff must hold to work in this program is a Child Development Associate’s degree (CDA) or Bachelors in Early Childhood Education. The kind of family involvement this program offers includes training, car seat safety, health dept. workshops, and home visit to help parents meet goals for their children. Parent volunteers are always welcomed. Room arrangement and choice of equipment are geared toward toddlers and their development needs. The room was open and allowed viewing of the children at all times. As the toddlers left their big square table they headed to the kitchen area also known as the Dramatic Play area for social time. It did not take them long to have everything pulled out and the teacher having them put things back up as she sings the song clean up from the Barney Show. The room consisted of a play kitchen and dress up area for pretend play with the teacher. They practiced dressing, feeding, and loving the baby dolls. They practiced cooking, serving and eating the pretend food. I loved watching the children play dress up. One male child carried around a purse as he shopped and another male child learned he had pockets. At this age children are considered object centered and this was defiantly seen during play time. Children love to imitate adults and this was true as I watched a female trying to talk on her pretend cell phone as she dealt with food in the microwave. Reading area with a living room environment where one . .en became distracted by climbing; sliding and playing follow the leader on the play equipment. One male student chose to play ball by himself most of the time. After they made three laps it was race time. The teacher let them line up and counted one, two, three and they were off even the younger one joined in this activities. As the children ran the teacher encourages each one by name and they made it to the finish line with smiles and sideways look to see who might be watching. Everyone has a winner in this group. One child had a problem with their perceptual motor skill as one female bumped her head on the wall and wanted her â€Å"Mommy†. Once more the teacher was there so quick to see to the needs of this child. What I found interesting was there was no TV, movies, or music playing. It was workers and children together playing as hard as they could play.

Organic Architecture Essays - Architecture, Wisconsin,

Organic Architecture Worldwide notoriety is a comment that would suggest Frank Lloyd Wright and the architecture that he left behind. This legendary American architect started a style of organic structures that remains a roadmap for the people of his genera today. His greatness not only remains by the buildings that he left behind, but through his school that he along with his wife started and his philosophy about designing. As a young child, Wright developed these characteristics that made him the artist that he was. At a young age in 1885, Wright's parents were unhappy with their marriage so they got a divorce (turner 400). A very unusual thing for that day and time, the divorce caused much pain for the family. Wright's mother dearly loved her only child and provided him with the characteristics necessary when approaching design with his philosophy. When asked if he knew what he wanted to be when he was younger, Wright responded by telling the man that his goal was to always be an architect ever since when at a young age he was given his first tinker toy building blocks. Even though some may chuckle at the validity of such a statement, Wright was serious and believed that through the little toys he was inspired to change a profession. As a young man, Wright studied engineering for only two terms at the University of Wisconsin. This was the beginning of the rest of his life as an architect. He earned a position as the chief draftsmen for the Adler Losing this job due to technical contracts that forbid him to sell his own drafts outside of the company. This was a blessing in a way because of the fact that Louis Sullivan was well respected and celebrated as an architect himself. Had Wright stayed he may have been shadowed under Sullivan. Being able to leave this shadow enabled him to create some of the greatest and most beautiful structures in the world. One of these, is the house built for the Kaufmanns family in Bear Run Pennsylvania. Properly called ?Falling Water? the structure rests in the middle of the woods right on top of a stream. The amazing thing about the way that this structure was designed is that although it rests in the middle of a wooded area, the enormous house looks and feels like it belongs. Just as the large expanse of rock that the structure sits on was worn away by the water over hundreds of years, the house too by design looks to have been their for milleniums and just happened to wear away out of the earth. Through the colors and material that was used on the construction of this habitat there is no sense of out of place to go along with this house. This house fits the philosophy of the great Wright. In architecture, it was Wright's vision to create everything so that it went well with the natural surroundings. He called this organic architecture. This was the basis by which all of his work was done. So many people wanted to be taught in this fashion of creating things, and Wright wanted to learn from others. From this, he created the Taliesin Fellowship. Out in the desert, a group of apprentices and he collaborated and learned from each other along with constructing all of the buildings by themselves and growing food. This institution became a community of all people with the same passion as Frank Lloyd Wright. In 1959 the aged Wright passed away at the Taliesin Fellowship headquarters. Although this was the end for the man, the reputation lives on and continues to astonish and amaze the world of architecture.

Free Essays on Poverty And Child Development

Poverty has a lot of meanings. The definition in the dictionary simply doesn’t suffice to show the human cost of poverty. Poverty is much more than the limited capital resources that this definition suggests. Poverty is defined by the federal government as 16,660 for a family of four in 1998 (â€Å"Child Poverty in the United States† 2000). These figures are extremely flawed; a single individual residing in the United States wouldn’t fare well by the standards of most individuals at this income level. Individuals in Cuba, Ecuador, and/or many other nations however, would live as kings on this income. Poverty is, therefore a subjective concept far more complicated than a yearly income. One individual most harshly affected by poverty are those who are the most powerless to do anything about it such as children. Research indicates that extreme poverty in the first five years of life, alters a child’s chances in life compared to lesser degrees of poverty in later life. This is the result of several key factors. The first problem associated with poverty is poor nutrition. It has been proven that poor nutrition leads to lower intelligence, poor physical development, and diminished immunity to disease. Children deprived of proper nutrition during the brain’s most formative year’s score much lower on tests of reading, vocabulary, arithmetic, comprehension and general knowledge. Level of Empowerment Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Level of Empowerment - Essay Example For such set of consumers, the pricing should be structured in such a way that does not limit them to purchase a bulky meal but offers them with options to purchase single units or deals that suit their appetites. Restaurant would have to be careful while pricing the single units and the deals because such consumers prefer low priced deals in accordance with their appetite. On the other extreme would be the consumers that crave for large quantity of food. For these consumers deals including buffets, all-you-can-eat deals and other deals which offer not only more quantity but also different options to be explored should be offered. There is a niche which lies in between these two extremes that are neither mild nor extensive food consumers, and therefore mediocre priced deals should be designed for them. It is best for the restaurant to have an ample array of food deals to be offered which are of great quality, because the larger the food and deals portfolio they have to offer the more customers will be attracted from all the segments. 2. Against the patenting genes Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Against the patenting genes - Essay Example This is essential for assessing the predisposition of the patients to cancer. Legalization of gene patents is regressive not only to the medical research but also to the independence and growth of research centers or countries other than the one to which patent protection has been provided. It is, indeed, sad, that â€Å"some genetic tests can’t be done in Canada because U.S. companies hold patents on the tests and the genes and have threatened legal action if the patents are violated by doing the tests in Canada, rather than the U.S.† (CBC News, 2014). Legalization of gene patents has resulted in patenting of a significant number of genes. There are total 30,000 genes in humans and 8,000 of them have already been patented (Wagner, 2009). This means that the number of genes that can be tested upon for identification of cure for diseases has been reduced significantly. So gene patenting should not be

Plea Bargaining Essay Example for Free

Plea Bargaining Essay Search for justice is a sensitive process. It entails accurateness and reliability. The truth, which is the road to justice, must fully be established without any trace of doubt. The process itself is complicated and time- consuming. Nonetheless, it has to be undergone by every party because of the precious life that is at stake. In criminal prosecution, the defendant has been guaranteed rights and privileges. This is so not because the legal system favors him but to shield himself from any arbitrary manipulation of the court or any legal officer. Constitutionally, the accused is presumed innocent unless proven beyond reasonable doubt (Davis, 2007, p. 44). This is a constitutional grant that cannot be surrendered by the accused. Most importantly, it is to avoid incrimination of innocent people. During the prosecution of the case, it is also very important that the accused undergoes the process of plea bargaining. Generally, plea bargaining is â€Å"the negotiation of an agreement between a prosecutor and a defendant whereby the defendant is permitted to plead guilty to a reduced charge† (Merriam- Webster Online, 2008). Specifically, from the word bargaining, it entails two or more parties, usually the defendant and the prosecutor. On the bargaining, the defendant is given a choice whether to plead guilty and waive his constitutional right or to continue to trial. But before the defendant makes his choice, the prosecutor presents the circumstantial evidences that would lead to the conviction of the defendant. Sometimes, the prosecutor offers dropping some charges against the defendant or the crime will be lowered to a lighter offense in exchange of guilty plea by the defendant. It can be observed here that the prosecution is in control of the plea bargaining (Davis, 2007, p. 43). The plea bargaining process usually evokes negative reactions because of the belief that the defendants right is curtailed (Davis, 2007, p. 43). However, in many instances, it offers several benefits for both the defendant and the prosecutor. It has been said that criminal prosecution consumes time, money, and effort. Plea bargaining offers the shortening of the trial process when the defendant pleaded guilty. On the part of the prosecutor, if the defendant pleaded guilty, he no longer needs to conduct trials in every case that he prosecute (Davis, 2007, p. 43). Notably, the burden of proving guilt beyond reasonable doubt lies on the prosecutor. If the defendant pleaded guilty, he is no longer required to establish every element of the crime being attributed to the defendant. In addition, the prosecutor will be freed from stress of for presenting witnesses, sending subpoenas, preparing statements for every testimonies, and argue on every issue. Thus, the trial is shortened and the prosecutor can have other time for his other duties. However, in order to obtain all these, the prosecutor must offer an encouraging and strong incentive to the defendant. Th defendants rights to trial and innocence unless proven are a very essential privileges that cannot easily be surrendered. However, when the prosecution can easily establish the elements of the crime committed, the burden will certainly be met and the defendant will be put to prison. In addition, if the prosecutions evidences are strong enough, conviction for the defendant will easily be achieved. In these case, it is advantageous for the defendant to plead guilty so as not to expose him to long and tiring trial period. Additionally, it will also shun his family away from stressful trial process. Most importantly, some charges will be dropped in his favor, and he will also be penalized for lesser offense. It also follows that his criminal liability or term of imprisonment will be shortened. Furthermore, plea bargaining do not necessarily sacrifice the rights of the defendant because at the onset of the plea bargaining, he has given the freedom whether to enter a plea or not. The defendant is very aware of the consequences that the trial may bring to his life and his family, and at this particular stage, he is given a choice to obtain a favorable, or mitigating grant for himself. But definitely, if he is strongly aware that he is innocent, then his rights to trial and presumption of innocence shall be granted.

Capital Punishment :: essays research papers

Capital Punishment - History Capital Punishment - History There have been many controversies in the history of the United States, ranging from abortion, gun control, but capital punishment has been one of the most contested issues in recent decades. Capital punishment is the legal infliction of the death penalty on persons convicted of a crime. It is not intended to inflict any physical pain or any torture; it is only another form of punishment. It is irrevocable because it removes those punished from society forever, instead of temporarily imprisoning them. The usual alternative to the death penalty is life-imprisonment. Capital punishment is a method of punishment as old as civilization itself. The death penalty has been imposed throughout history for many crimes, ranging from treason to petty theft and murder. Many ancient societies accepted the idea that certain crimes deserved capital punishment. Ancient Roman and Mosaic law endorsed the notion of retaliation; they believed in the rule of "an eye for an eye." Similarly, the ancient Egyptians all executed citizens for a variety of crimes. The most famous people to be executed is Jesus. Only in England, during the reign of William the Conqueror was the death penalty not used, although the results of interrogation and torture were often fatal. Later, Britain reinstated the death penalty and brought it to its American colonies. Although the death was widely accepted throughout the early United States, not everyone approved of it. In the late-eighteen century, opposition to the death penalty gathered enough strength to lead to important restrictions on the use of the death penalty in several northern states, while in the United States, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Rhode Island abandoned the practice of it altogether. In 1794, Pennsylvan ia adopted a law to show the different degrees of murder and only used the death penalty for premeditated first-degree murder. Another reform took place in 1846 in Louisiana. This state abolished the mandatory death penalty and authorized the option of sentencing a capital offender to life imprisonment rather than to death. After the 1830s, public executions ceased to be demonstrated but did not completely stop until after 1936. Throughout history, governments have been extremely inventive in making ways to execute people. Executions inflicted in the past are now regarded today as ghastly, barbaric, and unthinkable and are forbidden by law almost everywhere. Common historical methods of execution included: stoning, crucifixion, burning, breaking on the wheel, garroting, beheading or decapitation, shooting and hanging .
