Good morning Readplus panel, Mount Alvernia Curriculum Leaders for English, and fellow students. â€Å"Pride and Prejudice† is a well-known novel by Jane Austen. Many people of different ages have at least heard of this book through various media adaptations. But how many have actually read it? â€Å"Pride and Prejudice† should be read by young adults and be included on the ReadPlus website because it is a work of literature that surpasses time. Its themes are still relevant, the characters are still relatable and it provides a cultural understanding and insight into the life of 19th century England. This novel is more than just about romance and love, it takes on darker themes such as destitution and exploitation. In place of safe and idealistic happiness, political and social issues are explored, Issues that are still relevant today. Set in 19th century England, in the village of Longbourn, The plot centres on the five daughters of the Bennet family and their attempts to obtain suitable marriages in order to gain stability. The story follows Elizabeth Bennet, the honest, virtuous and witty protagonist. She is the second oldest child from a middle class family, who does not conform to the bounds of her social class. Enter Fitzwilliam Darcy: wealthy, handsome and an intelligent individual who appears to be proud and arrogant which immediately causes a misunderstanding of character between the two. English Horror Story - Original Writing I was driving for about three hours when I realised I had taken the wrong turning and was hopelessly lost. I pulled over to the side and found my mobile phone in order to phone for help. Surprisingly, the battery had run completely low and I began to feel a sense of panic as it was rapidly becoming darker. The field of mental health has evolved over the last century and a half due to medical advancements in the field. Mental illness is no longer seen as a hopeless situation for Americans to deal with. People with mental challenges can have productive lives with the proper treatment. Today, fewer stigmas are associated with having mental illness. A more humane approach occurs in psychiatric medicine than in the past decades. The practice of lobotomy was stopped in 1967 it was a controversial procedure where certain nerves in the brain were cut and by doing this it was believed to relieve excess emotions to stabilize moods. American psychiatrist Walter Freeman performed the first lobotomy in the United States in 1936 on a woman from Kansas. It is responsible for defining and coordinating human resource policies, managing the pay system, training workers and levering their absorption into the workforce and also fosters diversity within the workforce. Its workforce has one of the highest numbers of employees working in full-time jobs within the public sector. The government has laws in place that govern the employment of its citizens. Switzerlands human resource practice is primarily centralized and has position-based recruitment practice. The government has adopted some of the International Labor Organization conventions for the management of human resource. HRM Procedure Many countries have developed guidelines used in the recruitment and deployment of their workforce. This facilitates the efficiency of work adaptation by employees and increases their productivity (Gold, 2013). Policies that govern how these activities are conducted are crucial in managing conflicts that may arise. Procedures provide guidelines on the employee welfare that includes their benefits, health, and wellbeing (Knill, Balint, 2008). Essay about Child Development: Toddlers Observation Essay This observation was mostly conducted behind a one way glass. I watched the children but they did not know I was there. The ages of the children served in that program were in the range of 18-36 months. Curriculum used in that program is considered Creative. Qualifications for staff must hold to work in this program is a Child Development Associate’s degree (CDA) or Bachelors in Early Childhood Education. The kind of family involvement this program offers includes training, car seat safety, health dept. workshops, and home visit to help parents meet goals for their children. Parent volunteers are always welcomed. Room arrangement and choice of equipment are geared toward toddlers and their development needs. The room was open and allowed viewing of the children at all times. As the toddlers left their big square table they headed to the kitchen area also known as the Dramatic Play area for social time. It did not take them long to have everything pulled out and the teacher having them put things back up as she sings the song clean up from the Barney Show. The room consisted of a play kitchen and dress up area for pretend play with the teacher. They practiced dressing, feeding, and loving the baby dolls. They practiced cooking, serving and eating the pretend food. I loved watching the children play dress up. One male child carried around a purse as he shopped and another male child learned he had pockets. At this age children are considered object centered and this was defiantly seen during play time. Children love to imitate adults and this was true as I watched a female trying to talk on her pretend cell phone as she dealt with food in the microwave. Reading area with a living room environment where one . .en became distracted by climbing; sliding and playing follow the leader on the play equipment. One male student chose to play ball by himself most of the time. After they made three laps it was race time. The teacher let them line up and counted one, two, three and they were off even the younger one joined in this activities. As the children ran the teacher encourages each one by name and they made it to the finish line with smiles and sideways look to see who might be watching. Everyone has a winner in this group. One child had a problem with their perceptual motor skill as one female bumped her head on the wall and wanted her â€Å"Mommy†. Once more the teacher was there so quick to see to the needs of this child. What I found interesting was there was no TV, movies, or music playing. It was workers and children together playing as hard as they could play.
